DEPLOYING IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

One region, eleven compliance regimes.

Southeast Asia gets talked about as a single market. In accounting and tax it is not: Singapore runs standards all but identical to IFRS, Indonesia follows its own convergence path, Vietnam mandates e-invoicing while Thailand leaves it to the company. Apus keeps all of it on one data layer.

FOUR COMPLIANCE AXES

What separates two countries is their standards, not their place on the map

This is the region with the most source-verified facts on the site — and the one where two neighbouring countries can sit furthest apart.

Accounting & statutory reporting

Parallel ledgers: one posting produces the local statutory report and the group report side by side — nothing is booked twice.

The standards gap here is wide: Singapore's SFRS(I) and Cambodia's CIFRS track IFRS closely, while Indonesia's PSAK follows its own convergence timetable. Parallel ledgers earn their keep in the second group and cost almost nothing in the first.

Tax & e-invoicing

Issuing, archiving and reconciling documents sits in the configuration and integration layer — never a code branch per country.

Three mechanisms coexist: Vietnam mandates e-invoicing by decree, Thailand lets companies opt in to the Revenue Department's system, Indonesia has moved to the tax authority's Coretax platform. All three live in the document and integration configuration layer.

Payroll & labour

Pay cycles, mandatory contributions and contract records follow each jurisdiction, on the same data layer as finance.

Most projects here run local staff and expatriate specialists on the same payroll, with pay cycles and mandatory contributions that differ per legal entity.

Data residency & protection

Three deployment models decide where the data sits; permissions and access logs are one shared design across every legal regime.

Three countries in the region have full personal-data laws, each with its own effective date. Where the data sits follows from the deployment model you pick, not from a clause added to the contract.

The rest of the region — no verified source yet:

  • Brunei
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • Timor-Leste

An empty cell means Apus has not verified a source for that country — not that the country has no rules. Deployment is still possible; the exact compliance scope is agreed during discovery.

PLATFORM MECHANISMS

Why one platform runs in many markets

Not localization bolted on afterwards — these mechanisms live in the data core and are shared by every market.

Multiple legal entities, one data layer

Headquarters and each subsidiary are separate legal entities inside one system — not one installation per country reconciled by hand.

Multi-ledger, parallel standards

A single posting produces reports under IFRS and under the local standard in parallel — nothing is booked twice.

Multi-currency and consolidation

Transact in each market's currency; consolidate into the group's reporting currency as part of the close process.

Configured per market, no code forks

Country differences live in the configuration layer — standards, document templates, tax — so every market runs the same maintained core.

Expanding internationally

This is the busiest two-way corridor for Vietnamese groups: factories into Cambodia and Laos, trading arms into Thailand and Indonesia, a holding entity in Singapore. On Apus, adding an entity anywhere along that chain is a configuration on the platform you already run, not a fresh ERP project.

How Apus serves this market

Served directly from Vietnam together with regional partners — discovery and delivery remote or on-site, scoped per project.

Frequently asked questions

We have entities in three countries — is that three projects?

One project frame; the scope adds up per entity, since each country brings its own standards, document templates and payroll configuration. The core — master data, processes, permissions — is built once and shared.

Is the interface available in Thai or Indonesian?

Not yet. The platform runs ten languages and neither of those is among them, so regional teams work in English on the same system. Southeast Asian languages are on the roadmap and open as real market demand appears.

Your market isn't listed?

Apus serves customers globally: the platform runs in ten languages, local accounting standards are handled in configuration, and delivery combines remote work from Vietnam with partners — projects outside Vietnam run in English by default. Tell us about your market.
